Jonathanv2
JONATHAN JACKSON

Director

Jonathan is a Chartered Accountant (CA), holds a public practising certificate and is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. Born in 1974, he joined Moroney Wray Jackson as a partner in 2008, having previously worked for a major international firm, in industry and finance lending.

Since joining MWJ he has worked in business advisory and taxation where his clients have ranged from individuals to small and medium size enterprises. Jonathan provides individual and corporate tax compliance and planning services to clients and additionally advises on GST and CGT matters. He frequently assists clients in corporate restructuring exercises and on acquisitions and disposals. He also provides superannuation advice and is an authorised representative with SMSF Advisers Network.

He studied Mandarin at East China Normal University in Shanghai and has worked throughout Europe.

He holds a Mental Health First Aid Certificate and is a strong advocate for healthy workplaces.

Jonathan is married with three children, is a keen sailor, loves the footy and reading.

DARREN WRAY

Director

Darren Wray is a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA), holds a public practising certificate and is a tax agent. Born in 1970, he formed Rooke Wray (now Moroney Wray Jackson) in 2002, having previously worked for a major national firm.

Since qualification he has specialised in corporate taxation where his clients have ranged from family businesses and start-ups to medium sized companies groups. He provides corporate tax compliance and planning services to clients and additionally advises on GST and CGT matters. He frequently assists clients in corporate restructuring exercises and on acquisitions and disposals. He also provides superannuation advice and is a registered SMSF auditor.

He has a partner, with two sons, and he and his family live in Hobart. He plays football, squash, and is a keen cyclist.

TIM MORONEY

Director

Tim graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2000 and has since worked in public practice. Tim is a Chartered Accountant, completing his ICAA Public Practice certificate in 2006. Tim’s post tertiary education also includes a Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning and more recently an update to his PS 146 Financial Planning qualifications specialising in superannuation. Tim is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, The Tax Institute, and National  Tax and Accountants Association.  Tim has worked in large and small firms and his passion is small business, ensuring clients have the best platform to succeed in a very competitive environment.

In his spare time Tim has served on numerous community and not for profit boards. He has also managed to train and complete two marathons, and still loves to try and wield the willow or squash racquet!

Client Services Administrator

Deena is a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Tax Institute and has 27 years’ experience as an accountant spanning a broad range of industries. Deena initially started her trade in numerous family – owned businesses,  before  moving to the public sector. Deena has moved to a client management role where her expertise of dealing with the ATO and prioritising client needs are first class!

Deena is a volunteer at the Dogs Home of Tasmania, when she isn't walking the dogs she enjoys reading and relaxing at the shack.

JESSICA CARTLEDGE

Senior Accountant

Jessica Cartledge is a Chartered Accountant (CA). Jessica was raised in Tasmania. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce at UTAS.

Since qualification she has specialised in self-managed superannuation advice and tax. She provides corporate tax compliance and planning services to clients. She frequently assists clients in dealing with complex issues with their MYOB and QuickBooks matters.

WENDY YEOH

Senior Accountant

Wendy Yeoh is a Chartered Accountant (CA). Wendy was raised in Penang, Malaysia. She completed a Bachelor of Business (Hons) at UTAS.

Since qualification she has specialised in taxation. Her clients have ranged from individuals to small sized companies. She provides corporate tax compliance and planning services to clients. She frequently assists clients in dealing with complex issues with their MYOB and QuickBooks issues. and has become a champion of XERO accounting software in the firm.

She lives in Hobart. She enjoys swimming.

MICHAEL STRINGER

Accountant

Michael grew up on the NW coast of Tasmania in a little town called Penguin on his parent’s chicken farm. He moved to Hobart in 1998 and graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1999 he then gained his Certified Practicing Accountant registration in 2005 and is a member of the Tax Institute. He has previously worked in the public service as an Accountant and commenced working in Private Practice in August 2016. He has two young children Georgina and Lachlan and has participated in a variety of sports at varying levels of success, he enjoys keeping fit and one of his most Memorable experiences was completing a Triathlon in New Zealand.

Nicholas Fall

Undergraduate Accountant

Nick is an Undergraduate Accountant, graduating from UTAS in December 2018, majoring in accounting and finance.

Nick attended Claremont College and was awarded a Certificate of Accounting Excellence in 2015.

He is a passionate ice hockey and inline hockey player who has participated in tournaments both across Australia and Internationally.

Nikki Belstead

Practice Manager

Nikki works in our administration team, and joined Moroney Wray Jackson in February 2019.

Having completed a Bachelor of Commerce at UTAS in 2008, Nikki has predominantly worked in the finance industry working in insurance, business administration and event management.

In her spare time, Nikki enjoys yoga and reading.

Kim Darling

Quality Assurance

Kim graduated from the Tasmanian Advanced College of Education in 1978 with a Bachelor of Business and has had over 40 years’ experience working for accounting firms both in Hobart and in Melbourne.

Kim is responsible for ensuring that the quality assurance standards are maintained within the firm.

In his spare time Kim is a volunteer with his local cricket club and enjoys the occasional bushwalk.

Kellie Rathbone

Accountant

Kellie has had 20 years of experience working and running small business within Tasmania.  Having owned and managed one of Hobart's premiere gift stores for the past 13 years, Kellie understands the ups and downs of small business. After selling her store in 2021, she has made the mid-career transition to MWJ as she is keen to help other businesses thrive and succeed.  A huge advocate for having a work/ life balance, Kellie understands how tough it can be working for yourself, and how adaptable you need to be as a business owner. Kellie knows first-hand how trusted advice from your accountant can help expand and grow your business, and looks forward to building successful relationships with clients, and helping their businesses succeed into the future.

Outside of work, Kellie is a keen volunteer, and is currently on the board of one of Tasmania's largest animal shelters, and also an Event Director at her local parkrun event. She lives in Austins Ferry with her partner and their cats.

Graduate Accountant

Yocie joined Moroney Wray Jackson as a Graduate Accountant after she graduated at UTAS with the major in accounting.

Yocie grew up in China and moved to Hobart in 2019. With a passion of being a trusted accountant, she is studying CPA Program for her full qualification.

In her spare time, she likes taking a walk around the waterfront near the Salamanca Market or having a BBQ with friends to get relaxed.
